Mauganj (Madhya Pradesh): A 26-year-old man and his sister-in-law (35) jumped into Madhya Pradesh's Bahuti waterfall of Mauganj after posting a 'Sindoor' video on social media.

In the video, the man was seen applying sindoor (vermilion) on the women's forehead and the incident is said to occur on Wednesday.

Residents of village Teliya Budh of Devra Khatkhari, the man Dinesh (26), and his sister-in-law Shakuntala Sahu (35) were missing for last 4 days.

According to information, Dinesh's family received the information of his and Shakuntala's whereabouts of Wednesday and rushed to the waterfall to counsel them.

However, by the time they reached, Dinesh and Shakuntala has already jumped into the waterfall. At present, the 2 are being searched for.

People present on the spot informed the police about this. Naigarhi and Shahpur police immediately reached the spot. Search operation was not carried out in the night due to darkness. Vigorous search for both was initiated on Thursday morning.

According to family members, Shakuntala and Dinesh had left home on July 19. Their location was traced when Dinesh posted a photo and story on Instagram on Wednesday evening from Bahuti waterfall, where he applied sindoor (vermilion) on Shakuntala’s forehead and declared their intention to die by suicide.

Shakuntala's mother reportedly gathered all the relatives and rushed to the spot to intervene , Despite that, they jumped.

Eyewitness who were there at the spot recalled the incident and said, "The couple was sitting quietly at Bahuti waterfall when some people gathered there and started talking to them. No one could understand anything and suddenly the man jumped first. After this the woman also jumped."

Father in disbelief

Shakuntala’s father, Chandrashekhar Sahu of Gauri village, expressed disbelief, saying his daughter had never complained about her marriage.

He said, "About 15 years ago, my daughter got married to Hiralal Sahu. Their relationship was steady since the marriage. They have three daughters. Everything seemed fine. We have no idea why she took such a step,”

Bids goodbye on social media

Before taking the drastic step, Dinesh posted a story on Instagram and Facebook which read " We can't bear it anymore. We are going to jump off from Bahuti waterfall."

He further wrote, "We request the government with folded hands to punish the culprits, Hiralal Sahu, Rajendra Sahu, Santosh Sahu and Rajkumar Sahu who are responsible for our death."

On Wednesday, Dinesh came live on Instagram sharing the screen with his lover, Shakuntala. In the video, they can be seen travelling in a bus.

Husband denies all the allegation

Shakuntala’s husband, Hiralal Sahu, denied all the allegations made in the suicide note. “We don’t know how or when this relationship began. The allegations made against me and my brothers are completely false. We never harmed or mistreated her,” he said.

Hiralal said, "We have three daughters. The elder daughter is 11 years old, the second one is 8 years old and the third one is about 4 years old, who recently got disabled in a road accident."
