Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Good news has arrived from Kuno National Park as female cheetah Veera has given birth to two cubs on Tuesday. The tiny cubs' images have surfaced, confirming their birth.
The picture are circulating widely on social media.
So far, officials have verified the presence of only two cubs.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed happiness over the birth of two cheetah cubs to female cheetah Veera in Kuno National Park.
He welcomed the newborn cubs and shared their pictures on his social media handle.
CM Yadav stated, "I am extremely delighted to share this news that the cheetah population in Madhya Pradesh is steadily increasing. Today, female cheetah Veera has given birth to two cubs. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Madhya Pradesh on the arrival of these little ones."
He also congratulated all officials, veterinarians, and field staff involved in the cheetah project for their dedicated efforts. He emphasized that the continuous growth of the cheetah population in the state is giving a new boost to tourism, creating employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to the conservation, protection, and restoration of cheetahs and the entire wildlife ecosystem in the state.
Cheetah Veera's Journey
Veera’s journey has been nothing short of an adventure. She made headlines earlier when she strayed beyond the park’s boundaries, embarking on a 25-day journey through different regions.
She crossed Jaura and Pahargarh in Morena before reaching Gwalior. In Baghwala village of Bhanwarpura, she startled locals by attacking a herd of goats and dragging away three right in front of the shepherd. After days of tracking, Kuno’s team finally found her and brought her back safely.
Now, with the birth of her cubs, the park is celebrating yet another milestone. Wildlife officials are closely monitoring the mother and her newborns, ensuring their safety.
This moment is seen as a big step forward in India’s ambitious project to revive the cheetah population in its natural habitat.
