Kamal Nath to take oath as CM today

BHOPAL:PCC president Kamal Nath is going to take oath as the 18th chief minister of the state at Jamborre Maidan here on Monday at 1.30 pm. AICC national president Rahul Gandhi will attend the function. The swearing-in-ceremony will see presentation of grand alliance (Mahagathbandhan) as many prominent leaders accepted the invitation to attend the function.

State media incharge Oza said former CM Digvijay Singh, former Union minister Suresh Pachauri and other Congressmen visited the venue and oversee the arrangement notes. She further added that invitations have been sent to all selected guests and our first guests are the party workers because their restless efforts have given the opportunity to the party to form the government.

She added, “The election of three states was virtual semi-final of the general election- 2019 and the states have proved that they are ready for the change. The party has made huge arrangements for the mega event, state media vice president Bhupendra Gupta said that sitting arraignments for 70,000 people has been made. He further added that around 1 lakh people will attend the ceremony.

Oza said that the function will be a show of grand-alliance. Many chief ministers, president of national parties and senior leaders will attend the function. She further said that the function is important for two reasons: one it will lay foundation for grand alliance and the second is related to industrial sector. Many industrialists will attend the function and this will be Invertors Meet sans any expense’. AICC prez Rahul Gandhi, Malikaarjun Kharge, CM Chandra Babu Naidu, ex-PM HD Devegoda, CM of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy, NCP leaders Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel will attend teh function.

Leader from Tamil Naidu MK Stalin, ex-Union Minister Kanimozhi, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Loktantrik Janta Dal president Sharad Yadav, Rashtriya Janta Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, JMM leader Hemant Soren, ex-CM of Haryana BS Hooda will also be part of the ceremony. Congress leader Rajiv Shukla, Congress leader from UP Raj Babbar and many others have given their consent to attend the function. As a leader of the Indian National Congress, Nath had served as Minister of Urban Development. He is one of the longest serving and most senior most members of Lok Sabha.

He was appointed the Pro Tem Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha. He has been elected nine times from Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. Nath was elected president of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee in May 2018. Born in Kanpur, Nath completed his Bachelor degree in Law from DAV College, Kanpur of Kanpur University. He is an alumnus of The Doon School and earned a Bachelor of Commerce from St Xavier’s College of the University of Calcutta. In 2006, Nath received an Honorary Doctorate from Jabalpur’s Rani Durgavati University for his contributions to the public sector.

Nath was named the FDI Personality of the Year 2007 by the FDI magazine and the Financial Times Business for his “Active efforts to attract foreign businesses to India, boost exports, and promote trade and investment”. In 2008 he was honoured with the title “Business Reformer of the year” by The Economic Times. November 2012, he received the “ABLF Statesman Award” at the Asian Business Leadership Forum Awards 2012.
