Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Tensions escalated in Jabalpur following a allegations of religious conversion in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur. There were claims that over 50 Adivasis from Mandla’s Maharajpur area were being lured into converting to Christianity.
Activists linked to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal accused the Christian community of forced religious conversions.
The situation turned violent when these groups confronted members of the Christian community at the Raanji police station. In the ensuing chaos, Father Davis George, a prominent Christian leader, was assaulted along with other community members. Videos circulated showing the attack, sparking deep anger among Christians across the city.

Series of Events
According to information, on Sunday at Raanji police station, some activists from Hindu nationalist organizations alleged that more than 50 Adivasis were being converted to Christianity. They, along with about 50 Adivasis from Maharajpur in Mandla, arrived at the Raanji police station demanding action. When the news reached Father Davis George and other Christians, they too reached the police station.
During the incident, based on these allegations, members of the Hindu organizations began abusing and assaulting Father Davis George and other Christian community members. The police intervened and took Father Davis George inside the station. A video has emerged showing the assault and mistreatment of the Father.
On Monday, hundreds of Christians gathered outside the Jabalpur SP office. Outraged by the assault, they demanded strict action against those responsible. They said that violence against Father Davis George and others reflects a failure of law and order. Arvind Andrews, president of the National Christian Federation, called for an impartial investigation and stringent action against the culprits.
Police Investigation
Additional SP Suryakant Sharma assured the protesters that an impartial investigation would be conducted and that legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty. Police said that all parties involved would be interrogated and that the video footage would be thoroughly examined. They further promised that action would be taken within 24 hours, and all lawbreakers would be arrested.
