Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A late-night raid by Crime Branch and local police in Jabalpur’s Chargaon area led to the arrest of three men involved in illegal IPL betting. The raid was conducted at a farmhouse in Kalar Pipariya village on Sunday night.

The police seized six mobile phones, a calculator, betting slips, a dot pen, ₹22,050 in cash, and records of bets worth lakhs from the spot. Police officials stated that strict action will be taken and illegal betting activities will not be tolerated. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Gambling Act.

According to information, the accused were caught red-handed while taking bets on the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Additional SP Suryakant Sharma and Chargaon SHO Abhishek Pyasi stormed the premises. As the police arrived, chaos broke out and the accused tried to flee. However, police managed to nab three individuals — Ranu Rai, Jitendra alias Jittu Rai, and Sanjay alias Sanju Burman.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the trio was operating the racket on the instructions of a man named Deepak. He allegedly asked them to target rural youth for betting and promised them 20% of the daily profits. Those bringing in new bettors were paid ₹500 per day. Police have launched a search for the absconding Deepak and are investigating the network further.
