Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): District administration sealed a nursing home for conducting illegal abortions at the center in Gwalior, an official said on Saturday.
District Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr Manish Sharma said that the health officials, police team and revenue officials raided the nursing home on Friday night. The team had recovered medicines and equipment used in illegal abortions.
He said that the action was taken after the health department had received information that abortions were being carried out at the nursing home, which did not have a registration to conduct such procedures.
After that the team led a trap and sent a decoy customer to the nursing home requesting termination of pregnancy, following which a deal was struck for Rs 16,000, Sharma added.
The team of officials raided the nursing home and recovered the equipment used in such procedures from the spot. The nursing home has been sealed and doctors working at the nursing home were being questioned, he said.
"We are going to write to the Medical Council of India (MCI) to cancel the registration of doctors working at the center involved in illegal abortions," Dr Sharma added.
