Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Food and Drug Administration Department seized 316 kg of mawa and milk cake during a checking drive at ISBT and Nadra Bus Stand in Bhopal on Monday.
The action was taken ahead of Raksha Bandhan and other upcoming festivals.
Officials checked mawa and milk cake being brought to Bhopal from outside the city. The products were seized after officials suspected issues with their quality and possible adulteration.
₹78K Consignment From Nagpur
At Nadra Bus Stand, officials checked a consignment brought to Bhopal via Nagpur. The 150 kg of mawa was worth ₹45,000 and had been booked in the name of Arihant Dairy, Bhopal.
The 166 kg of milk cake was valued at ₹33,000 and had been booked in the name of Lovely Sweets in Sabzi Mandi.
Samples of the seized mawa and milk cake have been sent to a laboratory for testing. Officials said action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and related rules after the test reports are received.
Checks At Bus Stands, Railway Stations
Food and Drug Administration teams are also checking food items at Halalpura, ISBT and Nadra bus stands, as well as Bhopal, Bairagarh, Nishatpura and Rani Kamlapati railway stations.
Officials said special checks are being carried out ahead of Raksha Bandhan and other festivals.
Mawa, milk cake, sweets, ghee, paneer and other milk products are being closely checked, while food items brought to Bhopal from outside will also continue to be monitored.
