Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Many first-time voters turned up in Sehore district to exercise their franchise and elect their representatives in first phase of three-tier Panchayat election on Saturday.

Apart from youngsters, many women and senior citizens also turned up in large numbers and queued outside booths to cast vote.

The first phase poll for three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions was held at 411 polling stations across 154 gram panchayats in Sehore janpad, which reported 60% polling.

Collector Chandra Mohan Thakur and Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi visited sensitive polling booths. A centenarian Resham Bai who hails from Mahuakhedi village also reached polling booth to exercise her franchise. She said as a citizen of country one should vote to select right candidate. “If I can vote in this age then people should not make any excuse for skipping election,” she remarked.

Pinki Parmar, a first time voter who reached polling booth along with her friends Sharda Mewada and Jaya Rai to cast vote said they were happy that they contributed in selecting candidate for panchayat election. After casting vote, they appealed to other young voters to exercise their franchise.
