Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A father and his son were seriously injured after four youths allegedly attacked them with knives following a dispute over a mobile phone in the Piplani area on Thursday night, said police on Friday.
The injured duo has been admitted to hospital, while the man's wife also sustained injuries while trying to intervene.
According to police, Saroj Yadav (33), a resident of Hathaikheda Pathar near a private college, lodged the complaint. Her son, Durgesh Yadav, works as a painter, while her husband Mahesh is also employed locally.
Police said a youth, identified as Ashish, had pledged his mobile phone with Durgesh a few days ago.
On Thursday night, Ashish returned with the money and asked for the phone. Durgesh told him to leave the money and collect the phone the following day, leading to an argument.
Ashish later returned with three friends Anand, Nihal and Uday and allegedly assaulted Durgesh while he was having dinner.
During the attack, Ashish allegedly stabbed him on the head. When Mahesh intervened, he too was attacked with a knife. Saroj was injured while attempting to save them.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours intervened, forcing the suspects to flee. Police registered a case, including an attempt-to-murder charge, on Saroj's complaint.
A police team later surrounded the suspects and arrested all four, Ashish Ahirwar, Anand Valmiki, Nihal Valmiki and Uday Valmiki.
