Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Union Minister Arjun Munda accused Congress of being anti tribals and usurping their rights. He said whenever Congress came to power in state, it ignored the tribals. Now once again, it is trying to confuse the tribals through tall promises in their election manifesto which is a ‘bundle of lies’.
Addressing the press conference at BJP media centre on Wednesday, he said as Congress always turned a blind eye towards tribals, hence tribals have rejected it in state and in country as well.
He said when Congress was in power in Madhya Pradesh, it never paid any attention to tribals. “They didn’t take any steps for better education and better health services. By seeing the manifesto of Congress, it seems the Congress party is scared because of the recent rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda in the tribal belt and launch of the party's two Parivartan Yatras from tribal pockets.”
During the Kamal Nath government, schemes made for Bhariya and Baiga tribals were discontinued.
Taking a dig at the promise of Congress to give jobs to tribals, he said when the Digvijay government was in power, recruitment through MPPSC was banned for ten years. At the time of the Congress government in the country, the budget of the Tribal Affair department was just 746. 6 crore and Modi government increased it to 10813 crores in 2022-23.
Reckoning various schemes made for tribals by the Modi government, he said the Modi government has tried to restore the tribal pride which was in tatters during the Congress regime. He accused Congress of cheating the naïve tribals through the fake dreams.
