Badamalehra/Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Disappointed with defeat of father in panchayat poll result, son of a defeated sarpanch candidate, attacked the supporters of the winning candidate in Dongarpura gram panchayat of Badamalehra block leaving many persons injured.

When these injured persons wanted to file a complaint at Gulganj police station, the police did not register FIR, after which they blocked the Sagar highway road which led to traffic jam. After hours of road jam, the traffic on highway came to a standstill following which Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma reached the spot along with police force and tried to convince them but when people refused to move away, they were forcefully removed using police force.

The injured from both sides have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Bandha outpost incharge Akanksha Sharma said that a counter case had been registered. Along with this, those who were involved in blocking the highway were also being identified and a case would be registered against them too.

According to police, Ratiram Sharma and Anand Sharma were Sarpanch candidates in Dongarpura Panchayat election. When the results were declared, Anand Sharma defeated Ratiram Sharma by the margin of 140 votes. Angry with this defeat, Rajkumar Sharma, son of Ratiram Sharma, and his supporters attacked the supporters of the winning candidate. Many people, including a woman were injured. Shashank Jain, DSP AJK Chhatarpur said a case of assault has been registered on both the sides. This incident happened due to election rivalry. A case was also registered against those who blocked the road.
