Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A healthy voters’ turnout was witnessed in rural areas of Chhatarpur district on Friday where people turned up in large numbers to cast their votes in the second phase of panchayat polls. Senior citizens and disabled too reached booths early morning on Friday.
The Collector and the Superintendent of Police, along with the SDM, kept a close watch by visiting the polling stations of Badamalehra and Bakswaha area. The collector has appealed to the voters to cast their votes.
In village Bandha Chamroi of Badamalhara block, a large number of female and male voters came to cast their votes with identity cards in their hands and were casting their votes in turn.
A large number of voters turned up in Gram Panchayat Karhari under Janpad Panchayat Barigarh and there was about 55% voting till 1 pm. Tight security arrangements were made during the polling. Senior citizens including Ganeshi Bai Ahirwar (95) who is physically handicapped also reached a polling booth in a wheelchair to cast her vote. Similarly Janki Bai (65) who is paralyzed also exercised her franchise.
