Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challan in the Twisha Sharma death case has revealed lapses and negligence by investigating officer (IO) ASI Dinesh Sharma during the initial probe.
Lapses were regarding the autopsy of Twisha which was conducted in AIIMS, Bhopal. The controversy erupted in the Twisha death case after AIIMS Bhopal revealed that the alleged ligature belt was not submitted during the autopsy.
CBI asked IO ASI Sharma why he did not submit the ligature for autopsy, and in his reply, the ASI said that he was ill so he did not have any idea about the ligature.
CBI, later facilitated a court-ordered second post-mortem by an AIIMS Delhi medical board that matched the ligature material to the injuries.
Secondly, controversy erupted when the IO sealed Twisha room but left the terrace gate bolted instead of sealing it before leaving the crime site.
During questioning by CBI, the ASI disclosed that he had sealed the deceased s room after constable Raghvendra Patel videographed the room. He bolted terrace gate before leaving the crime scene.
Bhopal police had penalised the IO Rs 5,000 for the delay and failure in submitting the evidence promptly during the initial probe.
Advocate Ankur Pandey said, Sharma was first police officer who visited the crime scene. And he had not sealed the terrace door where Twisha was found dead.
Being the IO of the case, it was his responsibility to seal the room as well as the terrace gate, but he only bolted it and left the crime site.
