Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 20-year-old youth drowned in the Barkhedi Khui river under Itkhedi police station limits on Sunday morning. Despite desperate rescue attempts by his father and relatives, the youth could not be saved.

The boy went for a bath with his father

His body was later recovered by villagers and sent for post-mortem examination. According to police, the deceased, Deepak Sapera, a resident of Nazirabad, had come to Itkhedi along with his father Vinay Sapera and other relatives to visit a family member. On Sunday morning, they went to bathe in the Barkhedi Khui river.

Youth dived into deep water, drowned

Deepak reportedly ventured into deep water, where he began to drown. His father and other relatives tried to save him, but their efforts were in vain. Itkhedi police reached the spot and, with help from villagers, managed to recover the body.

Officials said that villagers had warned Deepak against going into the deeper part of the river, but he did not heed the caution. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family.
