BHOPAL: The women guest scholars working across the state have demanded better work facilities. They say that they are working on a low salary without the facility of maternity leave or other such leaves.
The women wing of guest scholars association has said that about 50% of the guest scholars are women. Despite this fact, the women guest scholars do not get maternity leave. Moreover they are not eligible even for other kinds of leaves.
ìMost of the women guest scholars are highly qualified. They are MPhil, PhD and NET and SET qualified. More than 50% of the women guest scholars have scored above 60% in the assistant professors selection exam 2017,î said Sunita Jain, a guest scholar.
These women guest scholars are often posted in colleges far away from their homes. There are several who have to commute, some up to 200 km, to perform their duty. They should be given a facility of transfer in the colleges nearby, said Seema Shah.
If basic facilities are provided to the women guest scholars, it will bring in a feeling of contentment that would boost their working efficiency, she added.
One of the women guest scholars said that even CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had come to listen to their woes when they were protesting at the Shahjehani Park. Chouhan had then said that such highly qualified women should not be subjected to mental torture should be given permanent jobs.
"We just want to remind our Mama ji of the promise he had made to us," she added. Chouhan should also take care of the women scholars who have rendered jobless after appointments of permanent faculty members.
