BHOPAL: Transport facility for students is likely to be delayed and expected to take off from 2023 academic session. State government had decided that free transport facility will be provided to students to and from their schools.
In pilot project, the scheme was to be started with CM Rise Schools. The students residing in the nearby villages more than 2 kms from the school were to be provided school bus or van or any other form of free transportation. However, due to corona pandemic schools are closed, as of now.
Moreover, CM Rise Schools- the ambitious scheme of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan- also has been delayed because of corona pandemic. Though schools for the scheme were identified but it seems highly unlikely that they could start with this academic session.
Free transportation scheme was also meant to be implemented in these schools. Sources in the school education department say that the scheme is likely to be implemented from 2023 academic session.
At present, school education department distributes bicycles to the students of class 6-9. The basic condition for this scheme is that studentís school should be more than 2 km from his/her village.
The cycle distribution scheme also didnít take place in the previous academic session considering closure of schools in view of corona pandemic.
Sources confirmed that upgradation of schools selected for the CM Rise project have started. Some of the schools could start with this session- if the schools are allowed to open-considering corona pandemic.
