Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Voting for the third and final phase of the three-tier panchayat elections will be held on Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh said that counting of votes will be done at the polling centre itself immediately after polling.
All preparations have been completed for peaceful polling. More than 40k police force has been deployed across the state for the third phase of polling.
In the final phase, voting will be held in 6607 village panchayats of 92 blocks of 39 districts.
As many as 20,608 polling centres have been set up for this purpose. Out of these, 3059 polling centres happens to be sensitive. In the third phase, there are 243 posts of district panchayat member, 1955 of janpad panchayat member, 6607 of sarpanch and 1,05,293 posts of panch.
Polling will be held for 242 posts of district panchayat member, 1916 of janpad panchayat member, 6408 for sarpanch and 22,378 posts of panch due to unopposed election on some of these posts. No nomination papers have been received for 14,699 posts of panch.
In the third phase, one crore 13 lakh 11 thousand 479 voters will be able to exercise their franchise. Out of these, 58 lakh 36 thousand 623 are males, 54 lakh 74 thousand 592 females and 264 are other voters.
