BHOPAL: The Double bench of Jabalpur High Court has issued contempt notice to Sagar Public School, principal secretary and commissioner of school education department and the district education officer of Bhopal in a case where the school was charging fees other than tuition fee as well, in violation of HC order.
Here again, the Right to Information Act came to help the aggrieved parents. Sagar Public School demanded a complete fee from the parents during admission for the session 2020-21. Parents met the school management of school and cited HC orders saying that schools can charge only tuition fees.
Nevertheless school did not relent after which ëMy Parents Associationí lodged a written complaint with the District Education Officer and the CBSE board. Both authorities issued notice to the Sagar Public School but there was no movement beyond that.
ëWhen we did not get any response from the DEO Bhopal and other authorities, we filed an RTI with the DEO and CBSE seeking information on action taken on our complaint,í said secretary of My Parents Association, Shailesh Bawa.
Although DEO did not give a clear reply to the RTI, the CBSE board replied that Sagar Public School has claimed that they have followed the courtís instructions and were not charging any fee besides tuition fee.
The reply under RTI became one of the important facts for the parents to file a contempt petition in the high court after which notices have been issued to principal secretary and commissioner school education besides the DEO and management of Sagar Public School.
They have been given four weeksí time to respond.
