Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A new variant of Covid-19 ‘Delta Plus’ has been detected in Bhopal on Thursday. This is the first case of delta plus variant of Covid-19.
Chief medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr Prabhakar Tiwari confirmed and said that the patient was in home isolation. “Samples were sent for genome testing. The result reveals this mutation of the virus,” he said.
Sources said that a total of 15 samples were sent for genome testing. The delta plus variant was found in a 65-year-old woman. Sources said that woman has been vaccinated. On May 23, she suffered a high fever. Following doctors' advised, she underwent Covid-19 test and was tested positive. She is under home isolation.
The health department has identified 20 people who came in direct contact with the woman and samples of all of them have been sent for testing.
Department of Medical Education Minister, Vishwas Sarang said that the woman was under observation and her condition was stable. “This is a new variant. A team of doctors are keeping watch on the woman's health,” he told journalists.
