Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has constituted a Cheetah project steering committee in accordance with decision taken in meeting with Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh.
The members of the committee are: Dr Rajesh Gopal, secretary General Global Tiger Forum New Delhi, P R Sinha (former director, Wild Life Institute of India, Dehradun), HS Negi (former Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest), GS Rawat (former Dean, Wild Life Institute of India), Subhoranjan Sen (APCCF). In total there are eleven members in the committee.
There are four members in consulting panel of international cheetah experts.
The committee has been formed to review progress, monitor, advice on cheetah reintroduction to the Madhya Pradesh Forest department and NTCA. The committee will also look into the aspect of opening of the cheetah habitat for eco tourism. The steering committee will be in force for a period of two years. It can invite any expert for consultation.
