Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A youth allegedly got trapped between a moving train and the platform at Bhopal Railway Station and sustained serious injuries, as reported on Friday.
According to information, the incident occurred on the night of March 31.
Regarding the incident, the GRP said that the youth is in critical condition and is not in a state to give a statement.
The youth sustained an arm fracture and serious head injuries and is undergoing treatment at present.
It is said the youth was walking alongside the train on Platform No. 6. Within seconds, he collided with the side of a coach near the gate and got stuck between the moving train and the platform.
In just a few seconds, he spined multiple times in the gap and was then dragged under the train, disappearing from view.
GRP officials said the incident took place around 11:31 pm when the Bhopal - Indore Express (No. 19304) was passing through the station at an estimated speed of 40 kmph.
Immediately after the incident, a 108 ambulance was called, and the injured youth was rushed to Hamidia Hospital.
The youth has not been identified yet as no ID was found with him. His mobile phone was completely damaged, making identification difficult. Eyewitnesses believe he is around 25 - 26 years old and possibly from Bihar.
Eyewitnesses said there was chaos on the platform after the accident. He accompanied the injured man to the hospital. The youth had a broken arm and a serious head injury but was still breathing.
GRP said that no foul play has been found in the CCTV footage or initial investigation. Prima facie, the incident appears to be due to the youth’s negligence.
Further action will be taken after he regains consciousness.
