Bhopal News: Youth Killed, Elderly Man Injured In Road Mishap

A 26-year-old youth was killed and a 72-year-old man critically injured after a speeding bus rammed their motorcycle in Bilkhiriya, Bhopal, on Wednesday evening. The victims, residents of Begamganj, were heading to the city when the accident occurred. The injured man is undergoing treatment, while police have registered a case and launched a search for the absconding driver.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A youth died and an elderly man sustained critical injuries in a road accident in the Bilkhiriya area on Wednesday evening.

According to police, a speeding passenger bus collided head-on with a motorcycle near the old Kalari on Raisen Road under Bilkhiriya police station limits. The impact threw both riders onto the road. The deceased, Surendra Lodhi (26), was a resident of Begamganj in Raisen district and worked on a Pokeland machine. The injured, Mohd Ismail (72), also from Begamganj, was travelling with him.

Police said the duo was on their way to Bhopal to purchase goods when the accident occurred around 4 pm. After receiving information, police rushed to the spot and shifted both victims to Hamidia Hospital. Doctors declared Lodhi dead on arrival, while Ismail remains admitted in critical condition.

Police have registered a case. Based on Ismail’s statement, an FIR has been lodged against the unidentified bus driver. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver and the vehicle.
