BHOPAL: The home department has served a notice to the suspended special director general of police Purshottam Sharma for issuing attachment orders to 250 prosecution officers. The IPS officer was suspended in September 2020 for alleged beating his wife.

It is alleged that when Sharma was the Director General of Police (Prosecution), he had attached around 238 prosecution officers and other employees to far-flung districts. At the time when these attachments were done, the state government had put a ban on attachments and transfers.

While issuing the orders, the permission was not taken from the government. After getting a reply from the suspended IPS officer, the government will issue charge sheet to him.

In the month of September 2020, a video showing him assaulting his wife went viral on social media. Later, the state government suspended him for his act though his family was divided over the issue as his daughter came in support of him.
