Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A mélange of jazz and classical music was presented in a classical quartet, Landscapes of Eternity which left the audience spellbound at Bharat Bhavan in the city on Monday. It was part of the fourth-day of an eight-day 43rd anniversary celebration of the Bhavan.
A unique coordination of raga, sur and taal was seen with flute, sarod, tabla and swarmandal. French artiste Naissam Jalal played the flute in this presentation, organised in collaboration with Alliance Francaise Bhopal. Samrat Pandit accompanied on swarmandal and tanpura, Saugata Rai Chaudhary on sarod and Shubhajit Brahmachari on tabla.
The presentation that lasted for more than an hour, the artiste gave a melodious presentation of music by introducing better coordination of instruments. Born in Syria, Naissam currently lives in France. A few years ago, Naissam came to India on a tour and was so impressed by Indian classical music that she decided to adopt this art. She selected five different compositions for presentation. She started off with a bandish based on Raga Bhairav which described the beautiful morning valleys and the love of nature.
Samrat presented Kabir's couplets ‘Kahe Kabir Jag Siddh Mein...,' in Raga Kafi. The artistes presented ‘Tears in Delhi’. They ended with ‘Chanda Chamke Har Ghat...’. Besides, the artistes of Vihaan Drama Group presented Rang Sangeet in Purvaranga. The artistes presented songs related to the play Charandas Chor including BV Karanth's play under the direction of Saurabh Anant.
