BHOPAL: Denizens in the state capital received much needed relief from humidity as rain lashed the city on Wednesday evening. Many low-lying areas were inundated leaving people high and dry. Vehicles drove through heavily waterlogged roads at Hamidia Road, Central Library, Jyoti Talkies, Bus Stand, Banganga, Vyapam Chowraha, and many other roads were waterlogged posing problems to traffic users.
During the day, it was sunny weather causing a humid atmosphere but by the evening, it started raining. The spell provided relief a little bit from humidity.
System is working over Jharkhand and it may lead to heavy rain in eastern region of the state. Therefore, Rewa and Shahdol division may experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. Heavy rain and thunderstorms have also been predicted for many districts of divisions like Bhopal, Indore, Hoshangabad, Gwalior, Chambal and Ujjain.
In the last 24 hours, Vijayraghogarh recorded 11 cm rainfall while Barhi recorded 10 cm and Singodi recorded 8 cm rainfall. Shahpura, Shahdol, Pali, Tikamgarh, Tendukheda, Anuppur, Gotegaon, Venkatnagar recorded 5 cm each. Four-centimeter rainfall has been recorded at many places like Bichhiya, Manpur, Umaria, Sehora, Mohgaon, Shahnagar, Patera, Jaithari, Mandla, Khaniyadhana and Sabalgarh.
On the temperature front, many places recorded a sharp fall in day temperature. Raisen recorded a drop of 9.2 degree Celsius at 28.0 degree Celsius. Jabalpur recorded a drop of 5.1 degree Celsius in day temperature at 30.7 degree Celsius. Chhindwara recorded a fall of 3.7 degree Celsius in day temperature settled at 30.3 degree Celsius.
However, Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7 degree Celsius with marginal rise of 1.2 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 24.8 degree Celsius. Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 37.0 degree Celsius with marginal rise of 0.6 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 25.1 degree Celsius.
Meteorological department senior officer GD Mishra said, ìThere is a system over Jharkhand and it led to rain over eastern region of the state. Rewa and Shahdol divisions may experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
