BHOPAL: DME minister Vishwas Sarang, at a meeting with New Market traders on Monday, said that a Covid safety team had been formed to monitor the activities of the market. It is an initiative to curb the spread of corona in the market through implementing strict protocols.
The team comprises Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), revenue and police officials. Employees of all three departments will be monitoring the day-to-day activities of New Market. They have been given different responsibilities and the team will keep strict vigil on whether the guidelines are being implemented or not.
Sarang said, "We're going in for graded unlocking. So, gradually, the entire market will be opened. The government is not in favour of being extra strict or imposing fines, but it's the responsibility of the traders to ensure strict implementation of the Covid protocols and guidelines, such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing and hand hygiene."
The DME minister spoke to the traders at Khedapati Hanuman Temple ahead of unlocking the state capital. He went from shop to shop and spoke to the traders and convinced them by clarifying the guidelines which permit opening only 25 per cent of the shopsómainly those that deal in grocery and hardware.

"DME minister Vishwas Sarang has told us that only grocery and hardware shops will be opened on June 1. He has assured us that the other shops will be opened on June 7.
