Morena (Madhya Pradesh): An auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly assaulted by staff at the SAF petrol pump after he refused to pay an additional ₹20 while getting CNG filled in his vehicle in Madhya Pradesh's Morena.

The incident occurred at the SAF petrol pump in Morena District.

According to the driver, he had visited the petrol pump to refill his CNG vehicle and made an online payment after the refuelling.

He alleged that the pump staff subsequently demanded an additional ₹20, which he refused to pay.

Following his refusal, the staff allegedly abused him and assaulted him by slapping and kicking him.

In this video, a heated physical altercation breaks out among several men, including fuel station attendants in green uniforms, outdoors near the pumps of a CNG station while onlookers attempt to intervene.

He further claimed that this was not an isolated incident and that similar altercations involving other auto-rickshaw drivers had taken place at the petrol pump three or four times earlier.

The allegations have brought attention to the practice of allegedly collecting additional amounts from customers and the action taken when customers object.

The incident has also prompted questions over whether the extra amount demanded from the driver was authorised.

The allegations, however, are yet to be independently verified. Details regarding any complaint lodged with the police or action taken against the petrol pump staff were not immediately available.

An investigation by the concerned authorities will be required to establish whether customers were being charged an unauthorised amount and whether the driver was assaulted as alleged.
