Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris, Neelbad (Bhopal), organised the Nasha Mukti Pratigya Maha Abhiyan under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Mission Spandan.
The programme was organised at AIIMS Bhopal with the message, “A Strong Step Towards a Developed India.”
The programme was organised in accordance with the recent communication received from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The special objective of the campaign was to increase awareness among youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to motivate them to adopt a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
During the programme, awareness was created about the personal, familial and social harmful effects of substance abuse. Participants were informed that addiction can affect not only a person’s physical and mental health but also their family and social life.
Timely awareness, family support and seeking professional help when required are important steps towards overcoming substance abuse.
Participants pledged to stay away from all forms of substance abuse, motivate their family members and friends to adopt a drug-free lifestyle, and remain aware of the harmful effects of substance abuse while also creating awareness among others.
For the convenience of the general public, information about the National De-addiction Helpline 14446 was also shared for assistance related to substance abuse and de-addiction.
People were appealed to not leave anyone struggling with substance abuse alone, but instead encourage them to seek appropriate professional help with the support of their family.
