Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The accused involved in running a call centre in Delhi and duping hundreds of people across 12 states of the country have 29 cases registered against them, revealed police investigation. The call centre that was being run in Rohini area of Delhi for past two years was busted by Bhopal police on February 5.
Police arrested Rahul Siyol (39) of Koria district in Chhattisgarh, Nidhi aka Puja Verma (25) of Delhi, Priya (21) of Janakpuri and Megha Singh (25) of Mongolpuri in Delhi. Police seized nine mobile phones used in calling victims and duping them on pretext of upgrading their credit card and increasing its limit.
However, the mastermind of the racket and his aide who used to give training to arrested accused are still at large. Cyber police officials said scanning of available data on coordination portal has revealed that the accused have 29 cases registered against them. The gang has duped people in 12 states of the country through the same modus operandi.
They have cases registered against them in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Gujrat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab.
Investigations exposed that the mastermind of gang used to give advertisement for job on social media. The mastermind hired unemployed girls and youths while offering job of telecaller.
However, they were later provided training to dupe people and take their details and OTP from bank customers. Police officials said after the arrest of mastermind, they would question him to know the source of data of bank customers, which was used by the gang. Additional DCP (crime) Shailendra Singh Chauhan said efforts had been doubled to trace and arrest the mastermind and his aide who are on the run.
