Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The mystery behind the brutal killing of 17-year-old Kunal Katare in Jabalpur’s Gosalpur area has been solved.
Police have arrested the victim’s girlfriend’s father and brother, who confessed to beating Kunal to death after catching him with their daughter.
According to information, the incident happened on the night of May 16 when Kunal went to guard his farm. The next morning, his family found him lying unconscious and badly injured in the field.
He was rushed to a private hospital in Jabalpur, where he died on May 17.
Initially, police registered a case against unknown persons, as the attackers were not identified.
During the investigation, police found that Kunal was in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Her father Rajiv alias Raju Lodhi Patel (42) and brother Karan Lodhi Patel (19) were reportedly upset about the relationship.
On the night of the incident, when their daughter went missing, they found her with Kunal in the field. In a fit of rage, both men attacked Kunal and hit him on the head with a bamboo stick.
Kunal remained in the field all night before being found by his uncle. By then, it was too late. Police have recovered the weapon used in the murder and the clothes worn by the accused at the time of the crime. Both father and son have been taken into custody.
The case was cracked by a special police team under the direction of senior officers, with commendable efforts by Gosalpur station in-charge Rajendra Singh Marskole and his team.
