History of World Art Day
World Art Day was established by the International Association of Art (IAA/AIAP), a partner of UNESCO, and was first observed in 2012. April 15 was selected to honour the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci, who was born in 1452 and is considered one of the most iconic artists and thinkers of the Renaissance. In 2019, UNESCO officially recognized World Art Day, giving it a global significance. Leonardo da Vinci embodies creative freedom, multidisciplinary genius, and visionary thinking—all of which capture the essence of art.
