Greta Thunberg, the 22-year-old Swedish climate activist, has embarked on a high-stakes humanitarian mission to Gaza, sailing aboard the Madleen, a vessel carrying urgent supplies for civilians trapped under Israel’s prolonged blockade.
The boat, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), departed from Catania, Italy, with a dozen international activists on board, including Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham, determined to break what they call Israel’s "illegal siege."
“We are doing this because no matter what odds we are against, we have to keep trying. The moment we stop trying is when we lose our humanity," Thunberg said.

The cargo on board includes milk, baby formula, medical supplies, water filters, and hygiene products, critical items for Gazan civilians facing severe shortages. The Gaza Strip has been under a complete blockade for over three months and has endured strict Israeli controls since 2007.
Israel Signals Readiness to Act Against Flotilla
Israel has responded to the voyage with a clear warning. “For this case as well, we are prepared,” said Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin in comments to The Times of London. “We have gained experience in recent years, and we will act accordingly.” He did not elaborate on what specific action might be taken.
The activists claim they are being shadowed by drones, allegedly operated by the Greek Coast Guard. They have appealed to international bodies for protection, citing concerns over a previous FFC vessel which was reportedly damaged near Malta. The coalition has accused Israel of targeting that ship, further escalating tensions.
Thunberg has been sharing updates, including images of her swimming in the Mediterranean and holding a Palestinian flag.
