An American Airlines plane caught fire at Denver International Airport on Thursday. At the time of the incident, there were reportedly 172 passengers and six crew members onboard the plane. All the passengers and crew members were evacuated safely after the incident.

Denver: An American Airlines plane caught fire at Denver International Airport on Thursday. At the time of the incident, there were reportedly 172 passengers and six crew members onboard the plane. All the passengers and crew members were evacuated safely after the incident.

A Dallas-bound Boeing 737-800 flight no. 1006, experienced an engine-related issue due to which the blaze erupted. The flight departed from Colorado Springs when the plane was diverted to Denver.

Videos of flames billowing out of the plane are going viral on social media. "After landing safely and taxiing to the gate at Denver International Airport (DEN), American Airlines Flight 1006 experienced an engine-related issue. The 172 customers and six crew members deplaned and are being relocated to the terminal," American Airlines said in a statement as quoted by FOX31.

"We thank our crew members, DEN team and first responders for their quick and decisive action with the safety of everyone on board and on the ground as the priority," the statement added.

In a picture posted by CBS news, passengers could be seen standing on a plane's wing after the fire broke out. The reason for the blaze is yet to be ascertained. There also no reports of any injuries to passengers of crew members.
