Tensions escalated in the Middle East as Yemen on Saturday fired a barrage of missiles on Israel. After the missile attack, sirens were sounded in southern Israel the projectile fired from Yemen. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) also confirmed the attack.
“Sirens sounding in southern Israel following projectile fire from Yemen,” the IDF said in an X post.
Israeli air defence systems were activated to intercept missiles from Yemen. So far, there have been no reports of any missile hitting the Israeli territory. Authorities alerted Israeli citizens of potential threat.
The developmnt came days after the ceasefire-US brokered ceasefire between Isarel and Iran. On JUne 24, Israel officially accepted the ceasefire proposal with Iran. On Late JUne 23 night, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement. Trump claimed that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and total ceasefire" soon after Iran launched a limited missile attack Monday on a US military base in Qatar, retaliating for the American bombing of its nuclear sites.
On June 13, Israel launched 'Operation Rising Lion' against Iran to target its nuclear and military installations. According to reports, over 650 people were killed in Iran due to Isareli strikes. Meanwhile, less than 50 people were reportedly killed in Israel in Iran’s retaliatory strikes.
