Doha (Qatar), June 23: Qatar government has strongly condemned a missile attack launched by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard targeting the Al-Udeid Air Base which is the largest US military base in the Middle East, located near Doha on Monday.
According to a statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, the attack is considered a serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, international law and the United Nations Charter.
“Qatar reserves the right to respond in a way that matches the scale and seriousness of this aggression,” the spokesperson said, adding that a detailed statement from the Ministry of Defense would be released soon.
Missile Intercepted – No Injuries Reported
The Qatari Ministry of Defense confirmed that air defense systems successfully intercepted the missiles. Thanks to quick action by the armed forces and existing safety measures, no one was injured in the attack.
“Thanks to God, the vigilance of our armed forces, and our precautionary efforts, there were no deaths or injuries,” said the Ministry in a public update.
The Ministry stressed that Qatar’s airspace and territory remain secure, and its armed forces are fully ready to handle any threats.
Call for De-Escalation and Dialogue
Qatar urged all sides to stop military actions immediately and return to diplomatic dialogue. The Foreign Ministry warned that continued escalation could destabilise the entire region and threaten international peace and security.
The spokesperson added that Qatar had long warned against Israeli escalation and continues to support peaceful solutions based on diplomacy and good neighbourly relations.
Base Was Evacuated in Advance
According to the statement, Al-Udeid Air Base had already been evacuated as a precaution due to rising tensions. All personnel, including Qatari troops, US forces and allies, were safely secured. No one was hurt in the incident.
