Pop singer Aska sent to prosecutors over alleged drug use

Tokyo: Tokyo police sent popular singer-songwriter Aska to prosecutors on Thursday after he was served with a fresh arrest warrant on Tuesday for using stimulant drugs.

Aska, 56, of the well-known duo Chage and Aska, is suspected of having taken the stimulants with Kasumi Tochinai, 37. The two were initially arrested on May 17 for possessing stimulants at a Tokyo apartment.

Tochinai was also sent to the prosecutors Thursday.

Aska, whose real name is Shigeaki Miyazaki, was quoted as telling investigators he used stimulants several times at his home.
