Disturbing visuals have emerged from Pakistan after flash floods triggered by pre-monsoon rains swept away dozens of tourists in northwest Pakistan on Friday (June 27, 2025), claiming at least 8 lives. Seven bodies have been recovered so far, while 16 people remain missing—13 of whom are from the same family.

According to officials, rain-related incidents have claimed 17 lives across Pakistan in the past 24 hours. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to increase security near rivers and other water bodies as heavy rains persist. He expressed grief and extended condolences over the loss of lives, including those of tourists.

Officials added that the affected family was part of a tourist group visiting the region and got trapped in rising waters caused by heavy rainfall upstream. A large-scale search operation is currently underway to locate the remaining missing individuals.

For the unversed, the devastating floods in Pakistan between June 15 and October 2022 claimed 1,739 lives and caused an estimated US$40 billion in damage.
