Washington DC: Pakistan Army Chief, Asim Munir, has reached the White House in Washington, DC, to meet the US President Donald Trump.

Trump will be hosting the Pakistan Army Chief for lunch at the White House Cabinet Room. This lunch meeting comes shortly after the India-Pakistan military tensions and while the Middle East is seeing rising conflict between Israel and Iran.

Pakistani American citizens welcomed Asim Munir on Tuesday with chants of “shame on you” and “free Pakistan” as his motorcade entered a hotel in the US city.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump said, "I stopped the war. I love Pakistan. I think Modi is a fantastic man. I spoke to him last night. We are going to make a trade deal with PM Modi. I stopped the war between Pakistan and India. This man (Asim Munir) was extremely influential in stopping it from the Pakistani side and PM Modi from the Indian side. Both are nuclear countries; they got to stop. I stopped a war between two major nuclear nations."

Earlier Pakistani military leaders like Ayub Khan, Zia-ul Haq, and Pervez Musharraf have met with sitting US Presidents.
