Islamabad: Hours after the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, the United States issued a travel advisory for its citizens. The US Embassy in Pakistan urged Americans not to travel to the Asian country.

The "Do Not Travel" advisory directed the US citizens not to travel to areas in the vicinity of the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control (LOC).

"We are aware of reports of military strikes by India into Pakistan. This remains an evolving situation, and we are closely monitoring developments. U.S. citizens are reminded of the “Do Not Travel” advisory for areas in the vicinity of the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control due to terrorism and the potential for armed conflict," the US advisory read.

"The U.S. Department of State’s “Reconsider Travel” advisory for Pakistan generally. We are also aware that airspace has been closed, and many flights have been cancelled," it added.

The US also asked its citizens to depart from the areas of direct conflict.

Guidelines Issued For US Citizens In Pakistan:

- Exercise caution and leave the area if you find yourself unexpectedly in the vicinity of military activities.

- Shelter in place if you cannot relocate.

- Review your personal security plan.

- Monitor local media for updates.

- Keep a low profile and be aware of your surroundings.

- Carry identification and cooperate with authorities.

- Review the Country Security Report for Pakistan

India, in the early hours of Wednesday, launched 24 strikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack killing 26 people, mostly tourists. India said that it targeted only terror camps, and no civilians or military infrastructure was hit.
