Naypyidaw: Two massive earthquakes jolted Myanmar within 15 minutes on Friday. The first earthquake of 7.2 magnitude of Richter scale struck Asian country at a depth of 10 km.
“EQ of M: 7.2, On: 28/03/2025 11:50:52 IST, Lat: 21.93 N, Long: 96.07 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar,” the National Center for Seismology (NCS) tweeted.
According to reports, the epicenter of the first quake was 16 kilometres (10 miles) northwest of the city of Sagaing. Tremors were felt across the nation. Tremors were also felt in the northeastern part of India and Bangkok.

The second earthquake jolted Myanmar 13 minutes later. The magnitude of the quake measured on Richter scale was 7.0, as per the NCS.
"EQ of M: 7.0, On: 28/03/2025 12:02:07 IST, Lat: 21.41 N, Long: 95.43 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar," the NCS said in another X post.
So far there are no reports of any injuries or casualties. The extent of collateral damage is also not known.
Some reports even claimed that one of the earthquake was of 7.7 magnitude.
More details are still awaited.
Earlier this month, An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on Richter Scale jolted Myanmar. As per the NCS, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 125km.
