Tel Aviv: Israel Defence Minister Israel Katz on Tuesday accused Iran of violating the ceasefire, hours after both countries agreed to a United States-brokered ceasefire. Katz directed Israeli defence forces to "respond forcefully". The Israeli defence minister also issued a statement in this regard.
However, Iran denied Israel's accusation that it fired a missile. According to reports, Iran fired two missiles towards Iran. Both these missiles were reportedly intercepted by Israel.
Meanwhile, Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also threatened Iran after reports of ceasefire violation. "Iran Trembles," Smotrich wrote on X.
The development came hours after Israel officially accepted the ceasefire proposal with Iran as brokered by United States President Donald Trump. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel achieved its goal of destroying Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile threat. Netanyahu also thanked Trump for supporting Israel in the 12-day war with Iran.
On late Monday night, the US President announced a ceasefire agreement. Trump claimed that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and total ceasefire" soon after Iran launched a limited missile attack Monday on a US military base in Qatar, retaliating for the American bombing of its nuclear sites.
However, Israel had issued a stem warning Iran it would retaliate with full force in case of any violation. "Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire," the Israeli government said.
On June 13, Israel launched 'Operation Rising Lion' against Iran to target its nuclear and military installations. Several Iranian military's top commanders were killed in Israeli strikes. In retaliation, Iran fired barrages of missiles on Israel's prominent cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa.
