Washington: US President Donald Trump on June 21, confirmed that American strikes had "completely obliterated" three of Iran’s key nuclear sites, Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, calling the mission a "spectacular military success" and warning that any future attacks would be “far greater and a lot easier” if Tehran refuses to make peace.

In a national address following the strikes, Trump said, “The objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and to stop the nuclear threat posed by the world's no 1 state sponsor of terror.”

In a statement given to Reuters, he added, “This was an amazing success tonight. They should make peace immediately or they'll get hit again.”

Trump Says Iran Must Choose Between Peace or 'Tragedy'

Trump, who was the first to announce the offensive via social media, said the US had struck the three nuclear sites with a “full payload of bombs”, especially targeting Fordow. “All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home,” he posted.

In his briefing, Trump said the mission is accomplished, “Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.” He also issued a stark warning to Tehran, saying, “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”

US Entry Into Conflict Sparks Fears of Wider War

The US strikes have put to rest weeks of speculation over Washington’s role in the Israel-Iran conflict. With this direct involvement, the United States has now officially entered what has been an increasingly volatile and destructive standoff.

“This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR,” Trump said in a separate post, underscoring his administration’s stance that the path to peace now rests with Tehran.
