Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur set to get a post in US administration led by now President-Elect Donald Trump, apparently made a U-Turn and changed his stance on H-1B visas. On Sunday (December 29), Musk said H-1B visa system was 'broken'. Just a day before that, Musk said that he would even 'go to war' to defend the H-1B visa regime.

Musk, himself a past beneficiary of H-1B visa is facing flak from hardcore supporters of Donald Trump who strongly feel that Americans should get priority in jobs in the USA.

H-1B visas enable American companies hire foreign workers. Thousands of skilled Indian professionals benefit from H-1B visas to bag jobs in the US, particularly the IT sector.

On Sunday, Musk took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which he himself owns, to suggest what he thought was a simple solution to the problem perceived by Trump supporters. He said that the visa regime was 'broken'.

Just a day before, Elon Musk strongly supported H-1B visa regime in a charged post made in reply to another post. Musk also dropped an 'F' bomb.

The issue of H-1B visa flared up recently when Donald Trump appointed Indian-American entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan as an adviser on artificial intelligence policy.

The appointment has led to large number of racist comments directed at Krishnan on social media.

Many of Trump supporters have demanded scrapping of H-1B visa regime which they say, would force American tech companies to hire local talent.
