New Delhi: The UK-based families of the victims who were killed in the Air India (AI 171) crash are considering filing a lawsuit against the airline and aircraft manufacturer Boeing in UK or US courts to seek higher compensation, reported India Today.

Only one out of the 242 passengers and crew aboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner survived the crash. Besides, 34 people on the ground, lost their lives when the London-bound Air India flight crashed into a medical college campus just seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad.

The Tata Group, which owns the airline, had initially vowed a compensation of Rs 1 crore. It later announced an additional compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the families to help meet immediate financial requirements.

"We are reviewing the recent actions by the lead aviation insurer for Air India, TataAIG, in relation to early offers of financial settlement and the obligations of Air India under international law to provide advanced payments to all next of kin," Keystone Law was quoted saying by India Today.
