Noah 

After having seen his father killed by inimical Tubal-cain many years earlier, Noah (Russell Crowe) as an adult is married to Naameh (Jennifer Connelly) and has sons Shem, Ham and Japheth. Haunted by dreams of a flood, Noah visits his grandfather Methuselah (Anthony Hopkins) who tells Noah that he was chosen for a reason. An orphan girl Ila (Emma Watson) marries Shem. Methuselah then helps Ila overcome her sterility. As the ark nears completion, animals of various species enter the ark. Noah’s family enters the ark except for Methuselah, who is swept away by the flood. Tubal-cain instigates Ham against Noah but Ham manages to kill Tubal-cain. Ila gives birth to twins even as the ark reaches shore. The biblically inspired epic film with excellent CG effects was a hit.

The Rite 

While being ordained at a seminary Michael (Colin O’Donoghue) writes a letter of resignation, citing a lack of faith

. Father Matthew tells Michael that he has the potential to become an exorcist. Michael is told the Church might convert his scholarship into a student loan but if Michael attends the class, he may be allowed to leave. Michael reluctantly meets Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), a renowned Welsh Jesuit exorcist with a patient who dies and Father Lucas starts showing signs of possession. When Michael cannot contact Father Xavier, he performs the exorcism himself. After a long drawn out fight, Michael completes the exorcism and Father Lucas is cured. In the last scene Michael is now Father Michael Kovak. Watch the atmospheric supernatural thriller backed by eerie cinematography and great performances.

The Human Stain

Former professor Coleman (Anthony Hopkins) was forced to resign following accusations that he allegedly made racist remarks. Following this scandal, Coleman’s wife dies and wanting to avenge his loss of career and wife, he intends to write a book based on these tragic events. But he falls for Faunia (Nicole Kidman) who does menial jobs at the college. The faculty members force Coleman to leave and Faunia’s stalker ex-husband Lester (Ed Harris) blames her for the deaths of their children in an accident. It is later revealed that Coleman is an African American who is posing as a Jewish man. The drama film based on Philip Roth’s novel about troubled, flawed people is powered by eye-catching performances from Hopkins and Kidman.

Bad Company 

The action-comedy was the last film inside the World Trade Cente

r before the 11 September terrorist attacks. After CIA agent Kevin (Chris Rock) gets killed, his twin brother Hayes (also Rock) works with agent Oakes (Anthony Hopkins) to get the men who killed his brother. To get the codes which are required to detonate the bomb, a terrorist group kidnap Hayes’ girlfriend Julie. To save her, the missing codes are handed over and in a race against time the bomb is traced to Grand Central Station. The terrorist leader Adjanic is shot by both Hayes and Oakes and the bomb is disarmed seconds prior to detonation. Later Hayes gets married to Julie.

Hannibal 

Child molester Verger (Gary Oldman), whom Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) had left disfigured, learns of FBI agent Starling’s (Julianne Moore) connection to Lecter. Verger uses official Krendler (Ray Liotta) to get Starling suspended. Verger tries to feed Lecter alive to a herd of boars but gets killed instead. Starling gets wounded so Lecter takes Starling to Krendler’s house. Lecter drugs Krendler, cuts out part of Krendler’s skull and feeds it to Krendler. After escaping, on a flight Lecter gives a small boy seated next to him a portion of what is supposed to be Krendler’s brain saying, “It is important to try new things.” The taut crime thriller adapted from Thomas Harris’ novel and sequel to Award-winning Silence of the Lambs was one of the highest-grossing films of that year worldwide.
