Two married men, Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are best friends and both feel that they were better off unmarried. Rick is married to Maggie (Jenna Fischer) and Fred to Grace (Christina Applegate). Realising their state of mind, their wives decide to give them a ‘Hall Pass’ – a week off from marriage during which they can have sex with other women. At Maggie’s parents’ house, Grace flirts with athlete Gerry even as Maggie is attracted to Gerry’s coach. But Maggie rebuffs Gerry’s coach while Grace has sex with Gerry and later feels guilty for cheating on Fred. Meanwhile, Rick rebuffs waitress Leigh and on returning home Rick and Maggie tell each other that they did not use their hall passes while Fred and Grace reconcile.

Headline: Death at a Funeral

Story: The film revolves around the funeral of the father of Aaron (Chris Rock) and Ryan (Martin Lawrence). A relative, Oscar, by mistake takes a pill which is actually a drug and ends up creating chaos. An unknown guest, Frank, claims he is the secret lover of their deceased father and threatens to reveal all if not paid a certain sum. Following a tussle, Aaron and Ryan thinking Frank is dead, put him in the coffin when Oscar is threatening to jump off the roof. When Frank emerges from the coffin, the pictures fall out of his pocket. Aaron gives a eulogy that his father was a good man with flaws like everyone else. Watch this hilarious comedy also for great performances and a breezy script.

Get Smart

Story: Max Smart (Steve Carell), working for an intelligence agency, dreams of becoming a spy like his idol Agent 23. Following a terrorist attack, he is teamed with Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) who does not want to be partnered with him due to his clumsiness. Max is initially suspected to be a double-agent but it is later revealed that 23 is the real double-agent and he takes 99 hostage. But Max manages to rescue 99 and kill Agent 23. Max is given honours and fulfils his dream of becoming a real spy with agent 99 as his girlfriend. Watch this action comedy which is also considered to be ‘one of the more pleasant surprises of that year’ and the highest grossing live-action movie for both Carell and Hathaway as lead actors.

Kindergarten Cop

Story: After putting kingpin Crisp (Richard Tyson) behind bars, Detective Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) heads to Oregon where he poses as a kindergarten teacher to locate Crisp’s wife and son and recover $3 million in drug money which she is believed to have stolen from Crisp. After being unable to control his class initially, he slowly wins over the school children, and even introduces his pet ferret as the class mascot. Kimble gets attracted to fellow teacher Joyce (Penelope Ann Miller) and realises that she is Crisp’s wife. Crisp comes there to get his son and Kimble shoots him but is shot by his mother Eleanor. After his recovery, Kimble reunites with his class and Joyce. The slickly made film is thorough entertainment and was a massive BO hit.

A Fish Called Wanda

Story: Gangster George and Ken bring in con artist Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) and weapons expert Otto (Kevin Kline) to help them w

ith a jewel heist and then hide the loot. Wanda and Otto betray George to the police and he is arrested. But George has moved the loot so to trace it, Wanda decides to seduce George’s barrister Archie. Otto tries to get Ken to reveal the location of the diamonds by eating the fish in Ken’s aquarium one by one and leaving a fish called Wanda after Ken reveals the location. Archie and Wanda board a plane, which taxis for take-off even as Otto curses them. Watch this heist-comedy, which is considered to be one of the greatest comedy films of all time.
