To keep it short yet enigmatic couples today prefer short honeymoons over longer ones. Being a part of one destination at a time is more rewarding to the eyes than cramming up on loads of destinations, writes Disha Prashant.
Sailing in the boat of life…
Searching for the land of love…
With hands entwined…
Take me to another world….
Imagine a lush green island, surrounded by sea from all ends and some scrumptious barbeque and a cozy bonfire as a weekend getaway. We all enjoy this thirst of travel and to quench this thirst we travel miles and miles in search of this dream destination. They say if you wish to seek tranquility the one must perform meditation with immense concentration. What better than gaining peace through travelling to your cherished destination. Earlier, couples used to opt for longer vacations, around twice a year or so. However, couples today are more travel smart and have started choosing for mini-honeymoons over longer trips.
Newly married couple Jaee and Tejas Deshpande believe in the philosophy of smart travelling. Longer honeymoons are painstaking, time consuming and also bore a huge hole in our pockets feels Jaee. Reminiscing her travel saga she said, “I feel we as a couple are wanderlust at heart. We both love travelling and are always hungry for searching novel destinations to explore. We both are of the opinion that short trips are always better than longer honeymoons. A longer honeymoon involves planned packing, choosing correct hotels, brainstorming sessions of finding the correct package, giving stipulated time to each destination and ultimately getting disappointed to the core. We have been to many places on short trips but Mahabaleshwar and Lavasa city are our most cherished getaways.”
Adding further she said, “It is important to jot down you area of interests while making a short trip and accordingly search for a destination. A complete non-plan will at times end up disappointing you, thereby disturbing your travel experience.”

If you ask yourself as to what makes you a better person and the answer to this query would be travel. It is only on the go that you learn to explore new things and find the meaning of life. It is all about rough packing and instant planning which actually makes travel worthwhile. Everyone desires for a much needed break especially couples busy with their corporate responsibilities feel globe-trotters Shikha and Rohit Kumar. While Shikha is into travel blogging Rohit is fond of photography and they both opine that travel allows them to pursue these hobbies.
Opening their book of travel stories Shikha said, “We both are thoroughly against the concept of planning a vacation as it refrains you from doing things at your own will. The thought of travel must give you some wholesome adrenaline rush and all you would need to do is pick up your bag, pump in the ignition and search for a new haven. Being a travel blogger I love exploring new places and writing about them on my blog. And to add to the oomph quotient my husband is a trained photographer. Thanks to our work we tend to visit new places and fill our closet of travel.”
Giving insights on travel Rohit said, “Mumbai as a place allows you numerous options of destinations to go to and also gives birth to newer destinations to explore. I have been an avid traveler since my bachelorette days and have been blessed with an equally enthusiastic wife. Why prefer shorter trips over bigger ones is because it allows you to travel more, is less time consuming and does not involve any major planning sessions. Also it is easy on the pocket and gives you the freedom of travelling at your own will. Since we both are nature lovers we love heading to places like Chinchoti, Khandala and so on.”

Right from enjoying some sizzling barbeque sitting on a mountain top to enjoying a cuppa coffee sitting on a deck witnessing the hues of nature short trips are becoming the in thing today. Someone has rightly said that if you wish to die in peace and without any kind of regret in your heart and also carry some memories to your grave, you need to travel till your last breath. It is important to treat your eyes and soul with new places and fill the void of boredom and stress.
Travelling makes us a better person by all means say Aakriti and Ashish Kulkarni, who feel that travel has made their bond stronger. Sharing her travelogue Aakriti said, “Since our courtship days we both have been fond of exploring new travel destinations which are closer to travel and yet offer serene beauty. If you ask as to why go for shorter honeymoons is because you need not be dependent on anyone to travel. You have the freedom to choose your time and not follow any fixed schedule. When it comes to longer vacations you are restricted to visit a place for sometime as you need to cover a major chunk with less time at hand. This only results in haphazard travelling without actually sinking in the feel of the travel.”

Searching for secret escapades and becoming one with them is what travel is all about. Gifting yourself some natural sand spa on a tranquil beach to bungee jumping from a cliff, travelling gets the best out of you and makes you a better individual. They say knowledge cannot be locked in the pages of a book but can be found while travelling. So if you wish to make the most of your trip with your loved one all you need to do is wink at your partner, rush for the car and get lost in the warmth of nature.
