She’s Beautiful when She’s Angry

What: The film is a provocative and rousing look at the birth of the women’s liberation movement in United States from 1966 to 1971. The film introduces the outrageous and often brilliant women who founded the feminist movement, including NOW, the National Organization for Women, when ladies wore hats and gloves, to the emergence of more radical factions of women’s liberation; from intellectuals like Kate Millett to the street theatrics of WITCH (Women’s International Conspiracy from Hell!). The film shows the progress, and the push back, on women’s freedom at that time, and ties it to issues still relevant today. There is a resurgence of feminist activism in the U.S., and while many women’s issues remain the same, (reproductive rights, equal pay, and freedom from sexual violence), there are new insights. Admission on a first-come-first served basis. NCPA members will get preferential seating till 6.20 pm.

When: April 15, 6.30 pm

Where: Little Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai
