Every year on on July 2, we celebrate World Sports Journalists Day to render our gratitude to sports journalists for the reportage of sports.
On this day, the International Sports Press Association was established at the 1924 Paris Olympics. The International Sports and Press Association (AIPS) was established as well with the motive of uniting sports journalists across the globe.
World Sports Journalists Day is observed every year to thank sports journalists for keeping us updated with sports news and encourage them to strive for excellence in their professional work.
To commemorate the day, Union Minister of State for Sports, Kiren Rijiju wrote on Twitter, "I extend my best wishes to all our sports journalists on the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day. Media is a critical stakeholder in ensuring the growth of the sports sector. Let's all work together to create a sporting nation. #Cheer4India #WorldSportsJournalistsDay."
Official account of Hockey India wrote on Twitter, "To all of you who connect us and make us fall in love with sports, we wish you a very Happy World Sports Journalists Day. We hope to see you all back in the stadiums soon. #IndiaKaGame"
Many sports journalists celebrated the day virtually by greeting and cheering on fellow journalists from the sporting media community.
