Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Felipe, 26, died on Thursday morning in a tragic car crash, leaving behind his wife Rute Cardoso along with three children. The couple tied knots just 10 days ago, on June 22, before the fatal car crash.
In a horrifying incident, Jota was on his way travelling with his brother on the A52 highway. According to local media, the car they were travelling in suffered a tire burst. The car went off-road and ended up in flames. Both the brothers died on the spot.
Who Is Rute Cardoso?
Jota leaves behind his wife Rute Cardoso and three children. Jota and Rute are in a romantic relationship from years. They also attended same school. Some reports say, they did not begin dating until 2013. Rute and Diogo had three kids together, two sons, Denis and Duarte, and his daughter.
The couple welcomed their first baby, Dinis in 2021. Later they welcomed daughter who was born in 2023 and a third child who was born in 2024. The couple had walked down the isle just 10 days ago in an intimate wedding ceremony.

A few hours before the accident, Diogo posted his video and images on Instagram. Fans and football circles are disheartened by the news and flooding the Internet with happy faces of Diogo and his partner Rute from their wedding day. Diogo captioned his wedding video as, "A day we will never forget."
